Water Figures
Water Figures grows from Feng Rui’s long experience of swimming. Water holds the body, slows movement, and offers protection while also applying pressure.
Water and the body
Figures seen from behind, bodily fragments, and contours broken by ripples shift attention to gesture, breath, weight, and boundaries.
Colour and development
Blue establishes a calm but pressured order; pink and stronger contrasts turn the view toward self-examination.
Context
VOGUE China and Kering’s Women In Motion record the artist’s links between personal experience, female experience, and uncertainty in contemporary life.
